Kojima
Productions announced
a new anime series based on the video game universe Death Stranding,
titled Death Stranding Isolations. The production will debut
in 2027 through Disney+ and it will have a
completely original story within the world created by Hideo Kojima.
The project
will be directed by Takayuki Sano (Attack on Titan The
Final Season), with animation by E&H Production and
character design Ilya Kuvshinov (Ghost in the Shell:
SAC_2045). Kojima will serve as executive producer, reaffirming
its intention to expand the narrative universe of the saga beyond video games.
A
universe that continues to grow between cinema, video games and animation
The
franchise also inspires the film project Death Stranding MOSQUITO,
directed by Hiroshi Miyamoto and written by Aaron
Guzikowski (Raised by Wolves), in addition to a live-action
film developed by Hammerstone Studios under the direction
of Michael Sarnoski (Pig, A Quiet Place: Day
One).
The original game of Death Stranding it debuted in 2019 for PlayStation 4 and later came to PC and PlayStation 5 with its version Director's Cut. Its sequel, Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, was released on June 26 for PS5 with a cast led by Norman Reedus, Lea Seydoux and Elle Fanning. With this new foray into anime, Kojima Productions consolidates its expansion into other forms of entertainment after the opening of its audiovisual division in Los Angeles.
