It's never too late to achieve glory, let alone a second round. The official website and accounts of the anime adaptation of From Old Country Bumpkin to Master Swordsman (Katainaka no Ossan, Kensei ni Naru) announced on Wednesday that the second season of the series will begin airing in July 2026. The series will air through TV Asahi and its affiliates.
To the joy of fans who enjoyed the first installment in the spring of 2025, the return of the main staff at Passione and Hayabusa Film studios was confirmed:
- Director: Akio Kazumi (Loner Life in Another World) returns to direct the project.
- Series composition: Kunihiko Okada (The Eminence in Shadow).
- Character Design: Satsuki Hayasaka (Yatogame-chan Kansatsu Nikki), who also serves as chief animation director.
- Music: Yasuharu Takanashi (Fairy Tail, Naruto Shippuden).
Voice cast
The original cast will also reprise their roles, led by veteran Hiroaki Hirata as the humble but powerful teacher Beryl Gardinant. The cast includes:

The first season premiered on April 5, 2025, and is streaming exclusively on Amazon Prime Video globally. The story, based on the novels by Shigeru Sagazaki, follows a middle-aged sword instructor who, despite considering himself a simple "field lout", possesses legendary skills that his successful former students will not let go unnoticed.
