The
internet is unforgiving and social pressure works. Amazon removes AI
dubbing offer from its careers page just hours after the news went
viral. What seemed like the imminent return of robotic voices to the anime
catalog has run into such a solid wall of rejection that the company has had to
back down... at least publicly.
Fear of
boycott? Amazon Drops AI Dubbing Offer After Fan Fury
The
vacancy, which was looking for a "Creative Director" to scale the use
of artificial intelligence in anime dubbing, disappeared without a trace. This
comes just one day after the community, actors' unions and studios recalled the
disaster of 2025, when series like Banana Fish and Vinland
Saga were "dubbed" with regrettable and emotionless results.
Real
victory or hidden strategy?
Although
many celebrate this as a triumph of the defense of human art, skepticism
reigns. There are two strong theories:
- The optimist: Amazon feared a smear
campaign and mass cancellations, opting to cancel the project to avoid a
PR disaster.
- The Cynic: The position has already
been filled internally or they simply hid the offer to continue working in
the shadows without making noise.
The truth
is that, for now, human voices are still safe. But with Japanese distributors
denying permits for the use of AI, Amazon is walking on thin ice.
