We already
have a premiere date for one of the most curious school romances of the spring
season. Kadokawa has just released a new trailer to confirm that Even a
Replica Can Fall in Love (or Replica Datte, Koi or Suru,
for the purists) will arrive on Japanese television on April 7, 2026.
In
addition, thanks to this video we could finally hear a fragment of the official
songs of the series. The opening will be in charge of
the shytaupe band with the song "Refrain", and for
the ending we will have the voice of the popular ASMI singer
performing "Awa".
Details
of Even a Replica Can Fall in Love
The
animation work was left in the hands of Voil, a relatively new
studio in the anime industry. In the director's chair sat Ryuichi
Kimura, whom you surely place for A Galaxy Next Door and
the Aikatsu! franchise. The adaptation of the story and
scripts are the responsibility of Tomoko Shinozuka (Wotakoi veteran),
teaming up with Misaki Morie. For his part, the character designs were adapted
by Eiji Abiko, who already demonstrated his talent in Cells
at Work! Code Black.
What is
the story about?
Imagine
that there is a clone of you created exclusively to go to classes when you are
lazy, have exams or feel bad. That is literally the life of the protagonist of
this story. She is a "replica" of Sunao Aikawa, an empty and borrowed
copy that only serves to replace the original. But everything gets complicated
when this copy falls in love.
In order
for her crush to distinguish her from the real Sunao, the
replica decides to style her hair in a different way. They begin to sneak out
of school together, giving this clone memories and a heart that he finally
feels is his own.
About
the work
Written
by Harunadon, this light novel caused a stir in 2022 by taking the
Grand Prize at the prestigious Dengeki Novel Prize. Kadokawa wasted
no time and began publishing it in 2023 under his Dengeki Bunko imprint. In
fact, its sixth volume will go on sale on April 10. And if you're more of a
manga reader, Momose Hanada is illustrating the monthly adaptation in the pages
of Dengeki Maoh magazine.
