It seems
that some thought they could "get their hands on the box" of the
gacha giant without consequences, but justice has fallen on them with all the
weight. Earlier today, the company behind Genshin Impact released
an official statement confirming that several arrested miHoYo employees have
already been sentenced for acts of corruption. The company has made it clear
that it has a "zero tolerance" policy against internal rats, and it
has not hesitated to send those who tried to take advantage of its position to
jail.
The report
details that the internal investigation uncovered a network of bribery and
embezzlement involving key departments such as Supplies and Marketing.
Basically, they asked for "bribes" from suppliers or diverted
business to their own shell companies.
Details
of the arrested miHoYo employees and their convictions
According
to the official document, the cleaning was deep and the legal consequences are
already a fact. The most notorious cases include:
- Supply & Merch Department: Three employees (surnamed
Kang, Xu and another Xu) were found guilty of demanding illegal
commissions from business partners. The result: Kang goes 1 year
and 4 months in the shadows, while the two Xu received 1 year and 3
months each.
- Genshin Impact Marketing: A former employee of the
product team (Zhang) used his power to benefit an outside company that he
had founded. He was fired abruptly and handed over to the police, where he
remains under criminal investigation.
Blacklist
and a lot of money at stake
miHoYo not
only put them in prison; He also assured that they will never work in the
industry again (at least with them) and put complicit suppliers on a permanent
"blacklist". With so much money flowing in, the temptation is great:
just in January, the Shanghai government rewarded miHoYo for generating 340
billion yen in taxes over the past five years. Where there is so much
gold, there is always someone wanting to take an extra nugget.
