"Reverse isekai" comedies (where fantasy characters end up in our world) always bring hilarious situations, and the next one to join the list looks great. This Monday it was officially announced that the manga written and illustrated by OminaeshiThe Sado Life of Rosé the Witch (Mahoutsukai Rose no Sado Life), will have an anime adaptation.

The news was announced in style in the April 2026 issue of Manga Time magazine Kirara Forward, which dedicated its cover to the protagonists of the story, Rosestalia and Sana Tsuchiya, to celebrate the announcement. In addition, the author shared a special illustration on his networks to celebrate the arrival of his work on television.

Details about The Sado Life of Rosé the Witch

If you're already looking for release dates or which studio will be in charge of the animation, it's time to be a little patient. So far, the production committee has only released the official announcement. Details about the technical team, voice cast, and release window will be revealed in the coming months. Of course, we will be super attentive to bring you that information as soon as it comes out.

What is the story about?

The premise mixes fantasy, humor and accounts of life. It all starts with Rosé Staria, a young witch who is marginalized in her homeworld simply because she has black hair. Fed up with prejudice and wanting to start from scratch, she uses her magic to escape to another world and ends up landing in modern Japan.

But it doesn't reach the typical crowded streets of Tokyo, but rather the quiet island of Sado, in Niigata prefecture. Her reception in our world is not exactly magical: as soon as she arrives, she is attacked by a crested ibis bird. Luckily, a local girl named Sana Tsuchiya rescues her. Seeing that Rosé has no money and no idea where she is, Sana invites her to live with her. The comic touch begins when Rosé, after watching television in the house, swears that she has been transported to the great capital, without realizing that she is living on a rural island.

The success of the manga

The work began publication in the pages of Houbunsha's Manga Time Kirara Forward in mid-2022. Her mix of costumbrismo and fantasy quickly connected with readers, achieving a nomination in the Comics category of the Next Manga Awards (Tsugi ni Kuru Manga Taisho) in 2024.

Currently, the manga has five compilation volumes in print, and the sixth volume will go on sale in Japan on March 12.
