Guiding souls in pain to the afterlife is a bureaucratic job that will soon open its doors to the world. During the presentation stage of the AnimeJapan 2026 event, the production committee officially announced that the anime adaptation of Dandelion will premiere worldwide on April 16 through the Netflix catalog, with a season of seven episodes.

The update was accompanied by the release of a new trailer for the project. Through this trailer, viewers were able to hear for the first time the main theme song titled "Goron to Doron", performed by Kocchi no Kento, while revealing an extensive and iconic list of voice talents that are integrated into this supernatural comedy.

The animation production takes place at the facilities of the NAZ studio. The general management is Daisuke Mataga, accompanied by Atsushi Ikariya as assistant director. Yosuke Suzuki takes responsibility for the series' composition and scripts, while the character designs are adapted by Ai Asari, supported by a soundtrack composed by Yuki Hayashi.

About the work

The plot closely follows Tetsuo Tanba and Misaki Kurogane, two workers of the Shipping Department of the Federation of Angels of Japan. Their primary duty is to track down and interact with lost souls who refuse to cross over to the afterlife, usually bound by strong regrets or unfinished business in the world of the living. The series balances this unusual bureaucratic work environment with moments of high comedy and deeply emotional spiritual resolutions.

The original work is a one-shot written and illustrated by acclaimed mangaka Hideaki Sorachi, world-renowned for being the author of the legendary Gintama franchise. The story debuted in the pages of Weekly Shonen Jump magazine in 2002 and was later included in the first print volume of Gintama. This adaptation will mark the first time that the story comes to life in television format, nostalgically bringing together several of the main voices of the original Yorozuya (Sugita, Kugimiya and Sakaguchi) within the same animated project.
