About the work

The plot follows Alya, a high school student of Russian descent with high academic achievement. As a tactic to hide her frustration, discomfort, or genuine affection, she often expresses her thoughts in Russian, assuming her peers can't understand her. However, her seatmate, Masachika, is fluent in the language perfectly, but chooses to keep her level of comprehension a secret. This premise generates a series of situations of comedy and constant friction while both collaborate in the school environment.

The original work, written by Sunsunsun and illustrated by Momoco, began publication as a web novel before formalizing its print transition as a light novel. The title managed to position itself in the market thanks to the integration of the foreign language in its romantic narrative. The franchise maintains its current profitability through the sale of its print volumes and its respective manga adaptation, maintaining the expectation of readers for the arrival of the new episodes on television.
