Being
kicked out of the hero's team is the bread and butter of today's fantasy
stories, but using your knowledge of economics and logistics to assemble your
own private military force is taking spite to a completely tactical level.
During AnimeJapan 2026, the Pony Canyon panel revealed a new promotional image
for the animated adaptation of Romelia War Chronicle (Romelia
Senki: Mao o Taoshita Ato mo Jinrui Yabaso Dakara Guntai Soshiki Shita).
The big surprise of the event was the confirmation that this series will
premiere throughout 2026 and will not beat around the bush, as
it will feature two cours, ensuring half a year of continuous broadcasting.
To bring
this story of management and strategy to the screen, animation studio Atra has
taken control of the project under the direction of Hiroshi Shirai.
The creative team decided to bet on screenwriter Aya Satsuki for
the composition of the series, ensuring that the dialogues about negotiations
and military tactics do not lose their rhythm. In the visual section, the
character design is in charge of the duo formed by Yoshiko Saito and Yuta
Otaka. However, one of the strongest and most anticipated points of this
production is its soundtrack, which will be in the hands of the talented
composer Kohta Yamamoto, guaranteeing epic melodies for the
confrontations.
About
Romelia War Chronicle
Born as a
web novel in 2019 under the pen of Ryo Ariyama and later
illustrated by Kodama and Ryo Kamito, the franchise closed its publication with
six physical volumes that managed to exceed half a million copies in
circulation. The plot puts us in the shoes of Romelia, a noblewoman who, after
helping her fiancé (the prince himself) to defeat the Demon King, is branded as
useless for not possessing magical abilities or physical strength. Her
engagement is annulled and she is sent back to her home province in disgrace,
while the rest of the group is bathed in glory.
What the
stupid prince didn't know is that, throughout that trip, Romelia was the one
who sustained the party by developing exceptional skills in commerce, finance,
information gathering, and pure logistics. Now, with the Demon King dead but
with his armies of monsters still ravaging the world, she decides to use her
brilliant intellect to raise her own army from scratch, willing to save the
kingdom based on pure strategy and capital, whatever the cost.
