The light
music club tunes its instruments for a return to the public stage. It has been
officially announced that the K-On! animated franchise will
feature a special panel during the AnimeJapan 2026 event,
scheduled to take place on March 29 at the TBS booth.
This
presentation will mark an official reunion of the franchise almost 17 years
after the broadcast of its first season on Japanese television. During the last
months of 2025, the brand resumed commercial activity with the launch of
various scale figures, which, added to this event, has positioned the franchise
once again on the industry's radar.
The
commemorative panel will last approximately twenty-five minutes and will
feature the in-person participation of two of the main figures who were part of
the band Ho-kago Tea Time during the original broadcast of the project.
About
the franchise
The
original story follows the daily lives of five high school students who are
part of the light music club at Sakuragaoka Academy. Between sporadic
practices, tea consumption and after-school desserts, the group develops strong
bonds of friendship as they try to improve their musical skills to perform at
school festivals.
The
animated series debuted between 2009 and 2010 with two seasons for television,
culminating in a feature film released in 2011. However, the original manga
features story arcs unheard of in animation, including the main protagonists'
college years and the school club activities under the leadership of the
younger members known as the "Wakaba Girls."
