Surviving
in a world that hates you is easier if you have an experienced mercenary having
your back. Bandai Namco Entertainment has just confirmed
this Wednesday, April 15, that the popular fantasy light
novel written by Kaeru Chohokiteki, Witch and
Mercenary (Majo to Yohei), will receive its long-awaited animated
adaptation for television. The announcement came accompanied by a
first trailer and an official promotional image, revealing that the project
will land on Japanese screens via NTV sometime in 2027.
The
voices behind the fugitive duo
To carry
the weight of this story, the production did not skimp on talent. The anime
will be in the capable hands of Studio 8-Bit under the
direction of Shinpei Ezaki, with scripts supervised by Taishirou Tanimura. But
what really lit up the networks was the revelation of the main seiyuus who will
give life to the protagonists of this dark journey of survival:
- Saori
Hayami as Siasha
Yor
Forger in Spy x Family and Shinobu Kocho in Demon
Slayer.
- Taito
Ban as Zig Crane
Sung
Jin-woo in Solo Leveling and Ritsu Muses in Reincarnated
Aristocrat.
From web
novel portal to physical format
Like many
heavyweights in the current industry, this adventure was born on the Shosetsuka
ni Naro portal in mid-2021. Its hard-hitting plot quickly caught the
attention of Micro Magazine, who released the print version with illustrations
by Bench Kanase. The franchise climbed in popularity and in 2024 jumped to the
manga format with the strokes of Makoto Miyagi. To celebrate the announcement
of this premiere in 2027, the anime's official website has already
begun releasing voice dramas and short stories directly supervised by the
original author to liven up the long wait.
What
happens when a calamity seeks peace?
The premise
moves us away from classic heroic adventures to focus on pure resistance. In
this world, witches are considered walking natural disasters. Siasha is
no exception; He has massive power capable of summoning floods, throwing
destructive fireballs, or wiping an entire country off the map in a single
night. Obviously, everyone wants their head hanging on a wall.
After
miraculously surviving yet another brutal assassination attempt, they cross
paths with Zig Crane, a skilled mercenary for hire. Together they
decide to forge an alliance to embark on a dangerous journey into uncharted
lands, seeking a safe haven where Siasha can live without being constantly
hunted, facing wild monsters and magic lost along the way.
