The Asian internet has once again done its
thing with one of the most surreal complaints we have seen recently. Through
several social networks, a sector of the Chinese public tried to
start a real funa against the acclaimed animated
adaptation of Sousou no Frieren (Frieren: Beyond
Journey's End). The reason for his fury? They accused the series of
promoting machismo simply because the female protagonists wear skirts and for
daring to include a couple of harmless jokes about the size of the breasts,
arguing that these aesthetic elements only exist on screen to please the gaze
of the male audience.
As expected, the community did
not remain silent in the face of these puritanical accusations and quickly
destroyed the arguments of the detractors exposing their blatant double
standards. The defenders of the work recalled that the story includes scenes
where female characters use clairvoyant magic to mercilessly mock the size of
men's physical attributes, situations that everyone applauded as an excellent
comedy. Faced with this ridiculous complaint that laughing at men is humor but
laughing at women is an intolerable lack of respect, many fans sarcastically
suggested to the offended that they better start watching episodes of Peppa
Pig if they couldn't stand the classic humor of Japanese fantasy.
Despite this absurd controversy, the franchise continues
to prove to be an overwhelming and untouchable success worldwide. With a second
season dominating the screens between January and March 2026, and a third
already confirmed by the production committee for the future, the only real
headache for fans is the state of the original manga. The acclaimed
work written by Kanehito Yamada and illustrated by Tsukasa
Abe has been on an indefinite hiatus since October 2025, an editorial
decision taken exclusively to protect the health of authors and adjust their
wild pace of publication.
