The industry does not stop experimenting with
absurd combinations that end up working perfectly. During the frenetic
activities of the recent Anime Expo, director Norihiro Naganuma took
the stage to formally announce Jurassic Shadows (known
in Japan as Ryugesho no Shinobi). This peculiar original
anime project released its first promotional video and concept art,
presenting the world with a truly strange premise: dinosaurs never became
extinct, but survived by crossing their DNA with humanity until the year 2029
in a Tokyo where they now devour people from the shadows of society.
To materialize this urban carnage, the
animation will fall entirely on the shoulders of the Cannon Code studio,
operating under the financing of the production committee made up of Slow Curve
and Avex Pictures Inc. Naganuma's direction will be supported by Kenta
Ihara's nimble scripts, while Yukiko Nakatani will
have the complex task of adapting for television the insane character designs
originally conceived by Yōichi Amano, all wrapped in the music of Shūhei
Mutsuki. And as if the animated bet wasn't enough, the giant publisher Kodansha has
already confirmed that it will publish a manga adaptation in
the coming months to start solidly building this new franchise.
Makeup and Prehistoric Skills in the Modern Era
The survival of our species in this universe
does not depend on conventional armies or firearms. Faced with the imminent
threat of these prehistoric hybrids, a secret order of ninjas arises with a
highly unusual technique: the Ryugesho. This special pigment, which
is imbued with memories of the ancient world, works as a lethal catalyst. By
applying it as makeup to their own skin, the warriors manage to awaken the
instincts and raw power of the dinosaurs that lie dormant, leveling the scales
in a bloody battle to see which race deserves to inherit the top of the food
chain.
With an approach that seems to be taken
directly from the most experimental era of the nineties.
