The Studio Trigger panel
during the Anime Expo activities made it clear that the hunger for adventure is
far from over. The production committee behind the animated adaptation of Delicious
in Dungeon (known worldwide by the Japanese community as Dungeon
Meshi) officially announced that its second season will
land during the month of October 2027. To ensure that international
audiences can enjoy this banquet without regional restrictions, it was
confirmed that the new episodes will be broadcast exclusively through the
Netflix streaming platform, accompanying the news with an unusual and
striking main visual art.
To ensure that the technical level maintains
that exquisite fluidity that amazed everyone during its massive broadcast of 24
episodes in early 2024, the creative core will not undergo any major
alterations. Yoshihiro Miyajima retains the general director's
chair, working side by side with Kimiko Ueno in the always delicate task of
structuring the scripts. The spectacular strokes of the monsters and
ingredients will continue to be adapted to the screen by Naoki Takeda in
the character design, while the masterful original soundtrack will continue
under the strict supervision and composition of the renowned Yasunori
Mitsuda.
Ryōko Kui's legacy continues to expand
All this brutal media and gastronomic success
has its origin in the impeccable pages of the manga written and illustrated
by Ryōko Kui. Originally serialized in the pages of
Kadokawa's Harta magazine from February 2014 until its epic
conclusion in September 2023, the premise of Laios and his group
devouring slimes, basilisks, and dragons to survive in the dungeon
managed to give a breath of originality to classic fantasy. And to maintain
commercial momentum until the release of the sequel, the franchise will keep
its weekly radio show active and will inaugurate multiple art exhibitions
dedicated to the original manuscripts at North American conventions.
With such a long waiting time of three years
between deliveries.
