Developer Sprite confirmed the development of the visual novel Ao no Kanata no Four Rhythm Extra 2. The company mentioned that it has closed a contract with a distribution company, which will announce the release date soon.

The statement revealed the results of a survey that the developer carried out between January 24 and February 9. Among the 5,153 respondents, 5,044 expressed their desire that Sprite maintain the plot and increase the CG animation of the new installment, even if that increased the price of the game. Only 108 respondents mentioned otherwise. The company explained that it plans to expand the content of Ao no Kanata no Four Rhythm Extra 2 by 60%, and that it will not be possible to launch it at the same price as Ao no Kanata no Four Rhythm Extra 1, which was released for PC in June 2017. The developer will reveal the new launch price in the reservation period.

The company announced in November 2019 that they would restart their operations, having suspended them in March 2019. At that time, Sprite mentioned their desire to work on this delivery and they carried out surveys to find out if buyers would be interested in its development.

Synopsis of Ao no Kanata no Four Rhythm

In an alternate universe, anti-gravity footwear was invented by a company called Grav-Shoes, and it allows people to fly freely through the skies. This leads to the creation of a sport known as "Flying Circus", where participants compete in races or other types of events. Masaya Hinata is a high school student living in Japan. In the past, he was pretty good at that sport, but he quit due to a crushing defeat.

His life changes when a happy girl named Asuka Kurashina transfers to her school and takes an interest in the Flying Circus. Although she is quite a novice, she manages to score a point during a match against the vice-captain of a powerful school, which turned into a considerable feat. This will become a new source of inspiration for Masaya.
