In the July issue of Young Magazine the 3rd from Kodansha publisher began the publication of a manga adaptation of the mystery novels written by Kei Ii, Kitsutsuki Tanteidokoro. The adaptation is in charge of Shinya Minami and the first chapter debuted with color pages.
For his part, Kei Ii published the first edition of the novels in takoubun volume format through the Tokyo Sogensha publishing house in 1999. The publisher subsequently launched a re-edition in a smaller format in 2008. The work is also inspiring an anime adaptation produced by LIDEN FILMS studios, under the direction of Shinpei Ezaki and Tomoe Makino, scripts written by Taku Kishimoto and soundtrack composed by MONACA. The adaptation premiered on Japanese television on April 13.
Synopsis of Kitsutsuki Tanteidokoro
The story takes place in 1909, during the Meiji era, focusing on fictional versions of the poet Takuboku Ishikawa and the linguist Kyōsuke Kindaichi, who were known in real life. In the novel, Takuboku runs a private detective agency to support his family. The two begin investigating a case of alleged ghost appearances at the Asakus Jūnikai building, also known as Ryōunkai.
