Actor Haruma Miura, who played Eren Jaeger from Shingeki no Kyojin, passed away

Japanese television NHK reported earlier today that actor Haruma Miura passed away at the age of 30. The television station said that the police are investigating the incident and that the evidence points to a possible suicide. Miura's body was found at his home in Tokyo earlier today.


Haruma Miura was born in Ibaraki Prefecture on April 5, 1990. He debuted as a child actor in the NHK series Agri in 1997. His first leading role was in the 2006 film Catch a Wave.

In addition, Miura played Eren Jaeger in the live-action film adaptations of the manga written and illustrated by Hajime Isayama, Shingeki no Kyojin. He also starred in other live-action manga adaptations, being Ren Kazama in Gokusen, Shota Kazehaya in Kimi ni Todoke, and Izumi in Akihabara @DEEP. Most recently, he played Itou Kamotarou in the live-action movie Gintama 2: Okite wa Yaburu Tame ni Koso Aru. In addition, he also lent his voice to the character Yama in the CG animated movie, Harlock: Spare Pirate.

Other film roles included Daisuke Iki in Naoko and Kentaro Saeki in The Eternal Zero. He also starred in plays, commercials, and television series, including the series Love will Begin when Money End, which will premiere in September.
