Through a live broadcast by the Adult Swim channel, it was revealed that the animated adaptation for the manga written and illustrated by Junji Ito, Uzumaki, will delay its premiere until 2021. The series was slated to premiere this year.

The four-episode mini-series is slated for release this year on the Toonami programming block, before its official release in Japan. For its part, the manga previously inspired a live-action film adaptation starring Eriko Hatsune and Fan Fhi, released in 2000.

Synopsis of Uzumaki

In the Kurouzu-cho village, Kirie Goshima lives a relatively normal life with her family. However, one day when she was walking towards the station to meet her boyfriend, Shuuichi Saito, she realizes that her father is staring at the shell of a snail in an alley. Without giving much importance, Kirie tells Shuuichi the situation, to which she replies that her father has also been acting very strange.

Shuuichi also reveals her desire to escape the village with Kirie, claiming that people have become obsessed with spirals. But her father's obsession soon turns deadly, kicking off a chain of horrifying and inexplicable events.
