Kimetsu no Yaiba will stop reporting the profits from his film

On the official Twitter account for the animated adaptation of the manga written and illustrated by Koyoharu Gotouge, Kimetsu no Yaiba, it was announced that the accumulated box office earnings for the film Kimetsu no Yaiba: Mugen Ressha-hen will no longer be reported as of 2021.

The film premiered in Japanese cinemas on October 16 in Japan and is a direct sequel to the events of the anime, adapting the "Arc of the Infinite Train" from the original manga. Koyoharu Gotouge published the manga in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine between February 2016 and May 2020.


73 days after its release, the film reported selling 24,049,907 tickets for a total box office takings of 32,478,895,850 yen (approximately $314 million), making it the highest grossing film in Japan's history, surpassing the 31.68 billion yen raised by Hayao Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli's film, Sen to Chihiro no Kamikakushi (Chihiro's Journey).


 

Synopsis of Kimetsu no Yaiba: Mugen Ressha-hen


Tanjirou Kamado and his friends from the Demon Hunter Corps accompany the Fire Pillar, Kyoujurou Rengoku, on a mission to investigate a series of disappearances occurring inside a train. Little do they know that Enmu, one of the members of the Twelve Moons of the Demons, is also on board and has set a trap for them.
