On the official site for the anime adaptation of the manga written and illustrated by Satoru Noda , Golden Kamuy , it was announced that the broadcast of the fourth season has been suspended indefinitely after the broadcast of the sixth episode (forty-second episode overall), held on today in Japan. The decision responds to the death of one of the key members of the production , which happened on November 1, which also delays the release of the project's Blu-ray/DVD packages.

The name of the deceased production member was not revealed in the press release, while Brain's Base studios, in conjunction with the project's production committee, will announce a resumption date once it is decided .

Meanwhile, the production reported that the first OVA of the anime franchise will be broadcast in Japan on November 14, and from November 21 to December 26 (the blocks that were to be occupied by the fourth season) will re-broadcast the fourth season from the first episode. This confirms that, at least, the series is not scheduled to resume until next year.

This fourth season was broadcast since October 3 and is confirmed with a total of thirteen episodes, while the Crunchyroll platform is responsible for its distribution in the West. On the other hand, Noda began publishing the manga through  Shueisha  publisher's  Weekly Young Jump magazine  since August 2014 and ended it in April 2022, with a total of thirty-one compilation volumes.

Synopsis for Golden Kamuy

In the early 1900s, in Hokkaido, after the Russo-Japanese War, Saichi Sugimoto searches tirelessly for gold. Nicknamed “Sugimoto the Immortal” for his death-defying acts in battle, the former soldier seeks his fortune to fulfill a promise he made to his best friend before he was killed in action: to provide for his family, especially his widow who needs treatment abroad for her impaired eyesight. One day, a drunken classmate tells Sugimoto the story of a man who murdered a group of Ainu and stole a fortune in gold. Before his arrest by the police, he hid the gold somewhere in Hokkaido. The only clue to his location is the encrypted map he tattooed on the bodies of his cellmates in exchange for a share of the treasure, should they manage to escape and find him.

Sugimoto doesn't think much of the story until he discovers the dead body of the drunk with the same tattoos described in the story. But before he can collect his thoughts, a grizzly bear, the man's killer, approaches Sugimoto, determined to finish his meal. He is saved by a young Ainu girl named Asirpa, whose father turned out to be one of the murdered Ainu. With Asirpa's hunting skills and Sugimoto's survival instincts, the pair agree to join forces and find the hidden treasure: one to reclaim what was rightfully his town's, and the other to fulfill Sugimoto's friend's dying wish. the.
