During the Jump Festa 2023 event and after the revelation of a new promotional video with the premiere date of the second season of Jujutsu Kaisen , the production presented a special message from Gege Akutami , author of the work. In said message, she implied that the work could reach its conclusion in approximately a year.
The full message wrote:
- Thank you for your continued support of “Jujutsu Kaisen”. She's a bitch, but we often have to learn terrifying news every day. It is honestly a miracle that so many people can enjoy my works, even when reality seems to slowly but inexorably suffocate us. I'll keep drawing nonsense things that don't make sense, Gege-chan would be very happy if you could stay with me and continue to enjoy my work for another year (maybe).
It should be noted that Gege Akutami had already stated in February 2021 that the Jujutsu Kaisen manga would end "in two years from then" , however, at that time she also stated that she was not entirely sure of her statement. However, a year has passed since then, so the accounts do give. Either way, the way Akutami wrote her message leaves a lot to interpretation, so it's best to wait for an official confirmation.
After all, Kohei Horikoshi also said a year ago that Boku no Hero Academia ( My Hero Academia ) was going to be finished around this time, and in the end that didn't happen. Finally, Gege Akutami began publishing the manga in Shueisha 's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine in March 2018.
Jujutsu Kaisen Synopsis
High school student Yuuji Itadori, who engages in baseless paranormal activities with the Occult Club, spends his days in the club room or in the hospital, where he visits his bedridden grandfather. However, this leisurely lifestyle soon takes a turn for the bizarre when he unknowingly stumbles across a cursed item. Setting off a chain of supernatural events, Yuuji suddenly finds himself drawn into the world of curses - terrible beings formed from human evil and negativity - after swallowing said object, which is revealed to be a finger belonging to the demon Sukuna Ryoumen, the “King of Curses”.
Yuuji experiences firsthand the threat these Curses pose to society as he discovers his own newfound powers. Introduced to the Tokyo Metropolitan Jujutsu Technical School, he begins to walk a path from which he can never return: that of a Jujutsu sorcerer.
