During the event JUMP FESTA 2024 it was
announced that the anime adaptation of the manga written and illustrated
by Tatsuki Fujimoto, Chainsaw Man, will
have a new animated film titled “Chainsaw Man – Reze Arc“. No
release date was confirmed for the production, however, the
studios MAPPA will
continue to be in charge of the animation. Voice actress Reina Ueda will
voice the character of Reze.
The anime adaptation was broadcast during the season
of Fall-2022 (October-December) and had a total of twelve
episodes. On the other hand, Fujimoto began publishing the manga Chainsaw
Man in the magazine Weekly Shonen Jump to from the
publisher Shueisha in
December 2018, finishing the first part in December 2020. The second part of
the work was moved to the service digital Shonen Jump Plus, where
it has been published since July 2022.
Chainsaw Man Synopsis
The story takes place in a world where Demons threaten
the peace of humans, making them targets to eliminate. Denji is a young and
depressed man who has sold several of his bodies and who works as a lumberjack and
demon hunter to pay off his late father's debt. Denji has a dog (who is also a
demon) named Pochita, who has chainsaws and which he uses to do his work.
This is explained because humans can make contracts with
demons. After returning home from a job, Denji is called by a Yakuza to
infiltrate a building and assassinate another demon. However, the plan was a
trap to kill him as part of a Yakuza contract with the demon, obtaining more
power. But Pochita comes to Denji's aid and unites with him, becoming a half-man,
half-demon and acquiring Pochita's chainsaws.
