On the official site for the franchise based on the light
novels written by Hajime Kamoshida and illustrated by Keiji
Mizoguchi, “Seishun
Buta Yarou Series (Rascal Does Not Dream )”, it was
officially confirmed that the “University Arc” will have an anime
adaptation. As we had already mentioned in the previous leak, this
story arc begins with the tenth volume of the light novels, where Sakuta
and his friends say goodbye to the high school and eventually become college
students.
Although the statement did not offer any details about the format in which this new arc will be adapted (that is, it is not known if will continue to be films or if it will finally return to television), it is mentioned that a promotional video is being shown at the end of the screening of the film “Seishun Buta Yarou wa Randoseru Girl no Yume wo Minai.” Due to strict laws against filming inside movie theaters in Japan, this video has not been leaked yet.Rascal Does Not Dream of a Knapsack Kid
Finally, the statement included a special promotional image for this next arc, made by Keiji Mizoguchi and starring Mai Sakurajima.
For his part, Hajime Kamoshida began publishing
the light novels in April 2014 through the publisher Kadokawa. The literary
franchise does not have numbered volumes, but each one bears the title of its
own story arc, but maintaining the part of “Seishun Buta Yarou ( Rascal
Does Not Dream)”, which gives its name to the franchise.
Sinopsis of Seishun Buta Yarou Series
One day, in the library where Sakuta Azusagawa studies,
he comes across an unexpected sight: a beautiful high school girl dressed as a
bunny. She turns out to be Mai Sakurajima, a famous former actress and fellow
student at Minegahara High School. However, her surprise at seeing Mai dressed
so daringly in the library is nothing compared to her surprise at realizing
that he is the only one who can see her. Remembering an event from her past,
Sakuta offers to help Mai discover the reason for her invisibility. Despite
their initially troubled relationship, the two soon become close: Mai and
Sakuta learn to appreciate each other and their friendship blossoms into a
budding romance.
This further fuels his determination to solve Mai's
dilemma. As the investigation progresses, Sakuta attributes Mai's situation to
an urban legend known as Adolescence Syndrome: strange phenomena that occur in
youth, unexplained by science and often dismissed as delusions. With few
promising results, Mai's situation worsens to the point where going unnoticed
is the least of her worries. Can Sakuta and Mai solve the mystery of her
teenage syndrome before it disappears completely?
