With
anticipation growing for the upcoming Paris Olympics in 2024 ,
anime fans have revived a petition launched a few years ago through AVAAZ
COMMUNITY Petitions . In this request, a devoted fan proposed
that Astolfo, the beloved character from the “ Fate/Apocrypha ” franchise
, be selected as the official mascot of the world's largest sporting event.
Astolfo , known for his charm and
dressing style that defies gender norms, is one of the most popular
so-called “otokonoko”, “femboy” or “trapito” in the anime community. His
androgynous looks and adorable personality have made him a favorite among fans
around the world.
However,
fans' hopes have been dashed as the official mascot of the Paris 2024 Olympic
Games was selected in 2022. Despite continued efforts and the accumulation of signatures on the
petition, it appears that the inclusion of Astolfo in the event is no longer a
possibility.
The
petition, which continues to attract new supporters, reflects fans' desire to
see diverse forms of entertainment and culture represented at global events
like the Olympic Games. Although Astolfo will not serve as official mascot at Paris 2024,
his legacy will live on in the anime community as a symbol of charisma and
diversity.
