A press release listed that the manga written and illustrated by Tachibana Higuchi , “ Champignon Witch ( Champignon no Majo ),” is getting an anime adaptation . The release did not reveal production details or a scheduled premiere date, so we’ll have to wait for more information at a later date.

The author commented on this:

  • « Thank you all, Champignon Witch will be adapted into an anime. This work has faced many difficulties to get here, but thanks to the support and encouragement of so many people, I have been able to continue with it. It is a work that, in many ways, has a deep meaning for me, and with this anime adaptation, I hope I have been able to give back, even a little, to the support you have given me so far. This motivates me even more to stay focused and enjoy drawing this story in the future.

  • Currently, I’m enthusiastically overseeing the production of the anime, but sometimes I feel like my emotions get too much and I end up being a bit intrusive with my suggestions… I know, I may go overboard at times. So, in my heart, I deeply thank the editorial staff and everyone involved in the anime, day in and day out! I sincerely hope that this anime will make everyone who watches it happy. May Luna and all the wizards out there cast potent spells of happiness and charm upon the adaptation of Champignon Witch , so that it becomes a magical work for everyone . »

Tachibana Higuchi , meanwhile, began publishing the manga through Hakusensha ’s digital service Manga Park in October 2019, where it is still in serialization. He previously wrote other works such as “Kageki no Kuni no Alice,” “M to N no Shouzou,” “Swan Lake,” and “ Gakuen Alice ,” with the latter inspiring an anime adaptation in 2004.

Synopsis of Mushroom Witch

Deep in the mushroom-filled Black Forest, a witch named Luna lives alone. With skin that's poisonous to the touch and breath that can kill if she gets close enough, she's forced to remain isolated from nearby civilization. Despite these conditions, Luna visits a nearby town to deliver medicine and buy new books to read.

Although Luna has never harmed any of the town's inhabitants, many are afraid to associate with her, as she is a black witch in a kingdom ruled by white witches. Luna, who can only watch from a distance as people receive their medicine and freely converse with one another, is drawn into their lives, even if it sometimes means putting herself in danger.
