Kadokawa has announced that
authors Asano (“BNA: Brand New Animal”) and Bartosz
Sztybor (CD PROJEKT RED) have begun publishing the manga “ Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Madness .” This manga,
currently available through the aforementioned publisher’s Comic Alive Plus
service, features a prequel story starring Rebecca . In fact, the publisher describes it as
follows:
- Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Madness, the first comic series based on
this anime, serves as a prequel to Cyberpunk: Edgerunners and stars the
popular siblings Pilar and Rebecca. The comic portrays not only the
comical and energetic actions of the siblings but also the compelling and
finely woven story that sheds light on the siblings’ dreams and
upbringing, which were not explored in the anime series. Additionally, a
new character, the mysterious man known as Safran, appears, taking the
story into the realm of madness.
“ Cyberpunk: Edgerunners ” premiered
in September 2022 and was met with praise from fans and critics alike. The
series, which was animated by Japanese studio TRIGGER under the
supervision of CD Projekt , is set in the Cyberpunk universe
created by Mike Pondsmith and serves as a prequel to the game
“ Cyberpunk 2077 ,” taking place roughly a year before the
events of the game. Acclaim towards the series centered on its
character development, animation, and world-building, making it an instant hit.
The Cyberpunk franchise continues to expand in other
directions, including books, comics, and even a mysterious live-action project,
not to mention a sequel to the game, which is currently in the early stages of
development. While there is still no concrete confirmation
about a second season of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, the possibility of more
animated projects has rekindled the enthusiasm of fans.
