On the
official site for the anime adaptation of “ Tensei Shitara Slime Datta Ken ( That Time I Got
Reincarnated as a Slime ),” a new promotional visual for the second
original film in the franchise was revealed. The press release listed that this
new film will be titled “ Tensei Shitara Slime Datta Ken: Tears of the
Blue Sea Arc ( Soukai no Namida-hen ),” and
that it is scheduled to premiere in February 2026 in theaters in Japan.
It should
be noted that although the fourth season has been officially announced, a
scheduled release date is not yet known. This means that, until
otherwise confirmed, this film represents the closest return that this
franchise has planned.
For its
part, Fuse published the original novels through the
independent service Shousetsuka ni Narou between 2013 and
2016, while the printed version with illustrations by Mitz Vah and
a different development has been published through the publisher Micro Magazine since 2014. In addition to the
manga adaptation by Taiki Kawakami and several other
spin-offs, the anime adaptation has a total of three seasons totaling
seventy-two episodes, as well as an original film and the spin-off “ The
Slime Diaries “.
Synopsis
of Tensei Shitara Slime Datta Ken
Satoru
Mikami, a 37-year-old office worker, was living a monotonous life in Tokyo,
content with his daily routine, though he never managed to land a girlfriend.
One day, while chatting with a colleague, he is attacked by a random assailant
and stabbed. As he succumbs to his injuries, he hears a strange voice in his
mind reciting a series of commands he fails to understand. Upon awakening, he
realizes he has been reborn as a slime in an unfamiliar world. In this new
body, Satoru gains special abilities, such as the ability to devour anything
and copy its appearance and powers.
In his
new form, Satoru encounters the dragon Veldora, a Catastrophe-level monster
that had been sealed away for 300 years after destroying a city. Sympathizing
with the dragon’s plight, Satoru promises to help him break the seal. In
return, Veldora gives him the name Rimuru Tempest and grants him divine
protection. Now freed from the monotony of his past life, Rimuru begins a new
adventure with a clear purpose in mind. As he grows accustomed to his new body,
his actions begin to impact the world, slowly changing its fate.
