Crunchyroll has
confirmed that it will premiere the original anime Onmyō Kaiten
Re:verse , produced by the renowned David Production studio
. The series will begin airing on July 2 , 2025 , as part
of the summer season, and will be available worldwide (except in Asia) with
Spanish subtitles.
This
project marks the first original television anime from David
Productions, known for works such as JoJo's Bizarre Adventure and Urusei
Yatsura . Additionally, the first trailer with English subtitles is
now available, revealing some of the supernatural atmosphere that will dominate
the story.
An
alternative Japan full of magic and reincarnation
The story
is set in an alternate version of the ancient Japanese capital, known as Denji
Heian-kyō (The Tranquil Capital of Divine Lightning). There
arrives Takeru Narehira , a troubled student who suffers an
accident and wakes up in this mysterious world. Upon meeting Tsukimiya ,
an enigmatic woman who has been appearing in his dreams, they are both attacked
by an oni and lose their lives... only for Takeru to wake up
again in that place. He soon discovers he can go back in time and
decides to learn the arts of onmyōjutsu to become an onmyōji and
protect Tsukimiya.
A
stellar team behind the project
The anime
features a highly-qualified creative team. Hideya Takahashi ( JoJo's
Bizarre Adventure: Golden Wind ) is directing the series and also
providing the original concept, while the base story was created by
novelist Akutō Satō . The script is by Hayashi Mori ( Cells
at Work! Code Black ), and the character designs are in the hands
of Kazuaki Morita ( Classroom of the Elite ). Masahiro
Tokuda is composing the music, and Kitsuneiro is in
charge of the concept art.
