Shogakukan 's Monthly CoroCoro Comic magazine  announced that renowned artist Yūki Imada will launch a new manga titled "Sonic to Yūki no Tsurugi" (Sonic and the Sword of Valor). The manga is scheduled to premiere on June 13 (local time in Japan), which is equivalent to June 13 at 5:00 PM (UTC+2) in Spain.

This new work promises a mix of fantastic adventure and fast-paced action , following Sonic on a mission where courage will be as important as speed.

Yūki Imada continues to expand the Sonic universe

This new manga follows the conclusion of Shadow the Hedgehog , also directed by Imada, which concluded on February 1, 2025 , and whose single compiled volume was published on April 28. The previous work focused on Shadow served as a perfect prelude to the current rise of the character within the franchise.

An unstoppable phenomenon in cinema and video games

The Sonic franchise doesn't just dominate the manga world. The December 2024 Sonic the Hedgehog 3 movie swept the box office by grossing over $60 million in its opening weekend in the US alone, and has already surpassed $420 million worldwide . This makes the film the most successful installment in the series, surpassing its predecessor, Sonic the Hedgehog 2 .

Additionally, the Sonic X Shadow Generations video game debuted in October 2024 for next-gen consoles and PC, offering an enhanced experience with classic levels and an original campaign starring Shadow , which has been well received by both players and critics.

A sword, a legend… and a lot of speed

With " Sonic and the Sword of Valor ," Yūki Imada seeks to introduce a fresh take on the blue hedgehog's universe. While full plot details are still unknown, the combination of fantasy elements, combat, and Sonic's iconic fast-paced style promises a vibrant story that could mark a turning point in the franchise.

Fans are already counting the days for this premiere, which undoubtedly promises to take Sonic to a whole new dimension .
