The July
issue of Shueisha's Saikyō Jump magazine published the final chapter of Mitsuru
Quest! this Wednesday, the manga created by Shinichirō Ōe that combined
fantastic adventures with the humor of everyday life.
A Story
Between Video Games and Intergenerational Friendship
Mitsuru
Quest! tells the story of a young man who is transported to a world of video
games, where he joins forces with a middle-aged man who is a game fanatic to
try to overcome all the challenges there. A story that blends action, comedy,
and a heartwarming generational connection.
From
One-Shot to Serialization
The work
debuted as a one-shot in February 2023 in the same magazine, and due to its
positive reception, it began regular serialization in July 2023. The first
compiled book volume was released in February 2024, while the third and final
volume went on sale on June 4, 2025.
Shinichirō
Ōe's Legacy
Before
Mitsuru Quest!, Ōe had gained notoriety with the manga Komatta Jii-san (The
Troublesome Grandpa), whose first social media post reached over 130,000 likes
on the X platform (formerly Twitter) on November 22, 2018, also known in Japan
as "Good Couples Day."
The manga
was subsequently featured on the LINE Manga Indies program in January 2019 and
later joined LINE's Frontier Debut Program in September of the same year, an
initiative that promotes new manga talent through public voting. Kadokawa
published the first volume of this work in November 2019, and it also received
an anime adaptation in April 2020.
With the
conclusion of Mitsuru Quest!, Ōe once again demonstrates her versatility as a
manga artist, opening the door to future projects full of humor, heart, and
creativity.
