This year's
14th issue of Hakusensha's Hana to Yume magazine revealed that
the manga Kao Dake ja Suki ni Narimasen, also known as It
Takes More Than a Pretty Face to Fall in Love, will conclude in five
chapters.
The play,
written and illustrated by Karin Anzai, debuted in July 2020 and
has maintained a strong readership base thanks to its mix of teen romance and
school comedy. The 14th compilation volume was published on March 19,
while the final volume, number 15, will be released on August 20.
A sweet
story with viral overtones
The plot
revolves around Sana, a student who admires the influencer Kanato,
who supposedly attends the same school as her. When she finally meets him, she
discovers that he is on the verge of expulsion. To help him, Sana takes on the
task of managing the school's social media, triggering a series of romantic
encounters that include clasped hands, hugs, and even
near-kisses.
This
romance full of tenderness and unexpected situations has captured the hearts of
thousands of readers, consolidating itself as one of the most endearing
proposals in the Hana to Yume catalog.
Expansion
and adaptation in real action
The series
has been licensed in English by two publishers: Comikey, which
publishes it in digital format, and Seven Seas Entertainment, which
distributes it physically. The second volume in English was released on May
20 and the third will arrive on August 19.
The manga's
impact also went beyond the role with a live-action film that
was released in theaters in Japan on March 7, 2025, bringing the
story of Sana and Khanato to a new audience and further cementing its
popularity. With only five chapters remaining, fans are getting ready to say
goodbye to this adorable and viral school love story.
