The popular
series has officially confirmed
the premiere date of its fourth season. The new installment of the
anime will be released on Tuesday, July 9 at 6:00 p.m. (Spanish time), as
revealed by Kadokawa in its new promotional trailer. The
broadcast will be made through the channels AT-X, TOKYO MX, Sun
Television, KBS, TV Aichi, as well as on the Lemino and d
Anime Store platforms.
Official
ending and main visual revealed
The
promotional video also featured a sneak peek of the closing track titled "Eien
ni Ikkai no" ("Once for Eternity"), performed
by Chiai Fujikawa. In addition, a new visual image was released
with the protagonists of the series, reinforcing the excitement for the return
of the shield hero.
Kadokawa
confirmed that this new season will feature a total of 12 episodes,
which will be collected in three volumes on DVD and Blu-ray, each
with four chapters. The broadcast on BS NTV will take place
on Wednesday, July 10 at 01:00 a.m. (25:00 JST the day before).
The
announcement was made during a special event held in Shibuya, where
the arrival of the fourth season was celebrated with live performances of the
series' theme music.
The
production team returns with new additions
Hitoshi
Haga returns
as director after leading the third season, working again with the
Kinema Citrus studio. The script is in charge of Keigo
Koyanagi, while the character design will be in the hands of Franziska
van Wulfen, Sana Komatsu and Masahiro Suwa. Takanori
Yamamoto will be the assistant director.
The
soundtrack, one of the most praised of the franchise, will once again be
composed by Kevin Penkin, with the collaboration of Alfredo
Sirica and Natalie Jeffreys.
New voices
are added to the cast, including Takeo Ōtsuka as Werner and Jirō
Saitō as Jaralis. These characters are expected to play
key roles in the new plot.
The
story of the Shield Hero
The series
follows Naofumi Iwatani, an ordinary otaku who is transported to a
parallel world as one of the four legendary heroes. Armed only with a shield,
Naofumi must survive after being betrayed and marginalized. Gradually, he
becomes the Shield Hero that the world needs to prevent its
destruction.
The
franchise began in January 2019 with a first season of 25 episodes. The second
installment premiered in April 2022 and the third in October 2023, both
simulcast on Crunchyroll.
The
original story comes from the light novels written by Aneko Yusagi,
with illustrations by Seira Minami, and has a manga adaptation
by Aiya Kyu, published in English by One Peace Books.
