Author Ushio
Shirotori announced last Saturday on her
official X/Twitter account that her manga adaptation of the
light novel series Formerly, the Fallen Daughter of the Duke (Fallen
Duke's Daughter) will enter an indefinite hiatus due to
the fact that she is recovering after the birth of her second child.
The mangaka
commented that she hopes to be able to resume her work by winter of
this year, depending on her recovery process and adaptation to the new
family routine.
A story
of redemption with an otome flavor
Tokyopop, the publisher in charge of
publishing the manga in English, describes the story like this:
Claire
Martino had it all: a loving family, a promised crown prince and a
promising future thanks to the magic inherited from her lineage. However, he
lost everything in an instant... and the culprit was her own half-sister.
Now, as
the daughter of a disgraced duke and singled out as a villain, Claire decides
to leave everything behind and embark on a journey of self-discovery.
But
isn't this the most difficult route in the game or NEW START ♡ ETERNAL LOVE?
The manga
began publishing in September 2020 through Mag
Garden's Mag Comi site. Its seventh compilation volume was
released on April 15 in Japan, while the sixth volume in
English was published on June 10.
A
project born from a successful light novel
The
original story was written by Saki Ichibu, who serialized it on
the Shōsetsuka ni Narō portal between March and May
2020. Mag Garden published the first physical volume
in December 2020, with illustrations by Nemusuke, and
to date has released five volumes, with the most recent being the 5th
volume, published in June 2024.
For its
part, the publisher J-Novel Club is in charge of the English
translation of the novels, and published the fifth volume on June
27.
The manga's
pause has been received with understanding by fans, who have sent messages of
support to the author and her family. Shirotori is expected to resume work with
renewed energy in the coming months.
