Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine revealed that Yuuto Suzuki's Sakamoto Days manga will kick off its "final battle" in the magazine's 36th and 37th combined issues, which will be published in Japan on August 4 (UTC+2).

The story began with a one-shot titled Sakamoto, published on Jump Giga in December 2019. Suzuki subsequently launched the main series in Weekly Shonen Jump in November 2020, quickly winning the affection of fans for its original mix of action and comedy.

A legendary assassin turned family man

MANGA Plus, which publishes the manga digitally in English with Viz Media, describes the story like this:

Taro Sakamoto was the deadliest assassin, feared by villains and respected by other hitmen. But one day... she fell in love! After retiring, marrying, and becoming a father, he is now an overweight man who runs a neighborhood store. However, he remains a legend. Will you be able to protect your family from the dangers of the past?

An expanding franchise with anime, novels, and video games

The universe of Sakamoto Days does not stop. In July 2024, the serialization of the spinoff "Sakamoto Holidays" began in Saikyō Jump magazine, with illustrations by Tetsu Ōkawa, assistant of the main manga. In addition, the series already has two novels, published in April 2023 and December 2024.

The anime adaptation debuted on January 11 on TV Tokyo and affiliated platforms, including Netflix, with a first part of 11 episodes. The second part began airing on July 14, and only episode 12 will be simulcast on Japanese television.

The franchise has also made the leap to video games with the launch of a puzzle game for smartphones, available from April 2. With the start of this final battle, fans are gearing up for the decisive stretch of a story that has reinvented the action genre with humor, charisma, and unexpected moments.
