Manga
Time Kirara Forward magazine,
published by Houbunsha, announced in its September issue that
renowned author Norimitsu Kaihō will release a new work
alongside illustrator Kurageso. The manga, titled Akarui
Mirai, will premiere in the next issue of the magazine, available
on August 22 (UTC+2).
In this new
collaboration, Kaihō will be in charge of the story, while Kurageso will be in
charge of the art. The expectation is already beginning to grow among the
magazine's regular readers, known for following series with school and
emotional overtones.
From
School-Live! to new narrative frontiers
Norimitsu
Kaihō achieved
great notoriety after co-creating School-Live! with Sadoru
Chiba, a story that combined the slice of school life with psychological
horror. This work was published between 2012 and November 2019 in the same
magazine, and concluded with its volume 12 in January 2020. Subsequently, both
authors released a sequel titled Gakkō Gurashi! ~Otayori~ between
June 2020 and August 2021.
A
prolific author in and out of manga
Kaihō is
also known for his work on other prominent franchises. Together with Makoto
Fukami and Etorouji Shiono, he released Deep
Insanity: Nirvana in 2020 within Square Enix's Big Gangan magazine,
ending in March 2023. This work is part of the multimedia universe Deep
Insanity of the same publisher.
Beyond
manga, Kaihō has made his mark as a screenwriter in the world of anime. He was
primarily responsible for the animated adaptation of School-Live! and
the lead writer of Danganronpa 3, including its "Hope
Arc" special. He also co-wrote Magical Girl, Spec-Ops, Asuka and
the original Akudama Drive. His most recent work has been as head
writer of the anime Guilty Gear Strive: Dual Rulers.
A new
story with Kaihō's stamp
With Akarui
Mirai in sight, Kaihō's fans have reason to get excited. Although
details about the plot have not yet been revealed, the announcement anticipates
an original proposal with its unmistakable narrative style. Readers will be
able to learn more about this new work on August 22, when it is
officially published in Japan.
