Coamix announced that the manga Fist of the Blue Sky Re:Genesis (Souten no Ken: Re:Genesis), created by Hideki Tsuji and Hiroyuki Yatsu, will officially come to an end with the publication of its next compilation volume, which will be released in November 2025.

A return after a very long break

The work returned in November 2024, within the January 2025 edition of Monthly Comic Zenon magazine, after a four-and-a-half-year hiatus since its previous publication in May 2020. In September 2023, Tsuji revealed that he had already completed drafts of the remaining chapters, except for the last two, although he did not specify how many chapters were left until the closure.

A direct sequel to the Hokuto universe

Fist of the Blue Sky Re:Genesis began serialization in October 2017 as a direct continuation of the Fist of the Blue Sky manga, a prequel to the celebrated Fist of the North Star. While Hiroyuki Yatsu was in charge of the script, the art was the responsibility of Hideki Tsuji.

Anime and the legacy of a legendary franchise

The popularity of the series led to the production of two anime seasons, broadcast in 2018 through Amazon Prime Video. Both installments are available on Crunchyroll with Spanish subtitles. The story is set in Shanghai in the 1930s, where the Green Gang and Red Flower Gang mafias fight for control of the underworld. In the midst of this conflict, characters such as Kasumi KenshiroYu-Ling, and Charles de Guise become key pieces of the city's destiny.

One more chapter in the history of the northern fist

The original manga, Fist of the Blue Sky, was written by Buronson and Nobuhiko Horie, with illustrations by Tetsuo Hara. It was first published in 2001 within the Weekly Comic Bunch magazine until its closure in 2010, spanning 22 volumes. Although its international distribution was limited, Gutsoon! Entertainment even published a few volumes in English in 2003.

With the end of Re:Genesis getting closer and closer, fans are preparing to say goodbye to a work that, despite its interruptions, managed to leave a mark within the Hokuto universe.
