This
Friday, the MAGKAN platform of the Mag Garden publishing
house published the final chapter of Doronjo-sama wa Tenseishitemo
Akuyaku Reijō no Mama datta, the isekai manga starring Yatterman's emblematic
villain. The play, created by Shin Kaduki, gave Doronjo a second
chance... although without moving away from its most perverse side.
A
reincarnation with plans for conquest
The story
begins after the defeat of Doronjo and his team at the hands
of the legendary Yatterman duo. However, instead of accepting their fate, the
trio mysteriously awaken into a new fantasy world. True to their
essence, they decide to start over from scratch, with the firm intention
of dominating this new universe.
The manga
debuted in January 2024 and managed to capture the attention of fans for its
mix of nostalgia, humor, and isekai elements. The second compilation
volume was published in Japan on January 15, and to
celebrate the closing of the story, Kaduki shared a special
illustration dedicated to his readers.
Yatterman:
A Villain with a Great Story
The figure
of Doronjo is a fundamental part of the legacy of Yatterman,
a franchise created by Tatsunoko Production in 1977. Its
popularity has transcended generations and formats, including animated
series, films and live-action productions.
In 2022,
the character was honored in the live-action drama Doronjo,
which aired on WOWOW to commemorate Yatterman's 45th anniversary and the
studio's 60th anniversary. Previously, in 2015, Doronjo was also the
protagonist of the anime Yoru no Yatterman, a modern
reinterpretation focused on his descendants.
The manga
Doronjo-sama wa Tenseishitemo Akuyaku Reijō no Mama datta not only
paid homage to a classic character, but also explored a different facet within
the popular isekai genre. With his ending published, he says goodbye leaving a
curious and funny mark on Yatterman's story.
