Kyō's Career
Kyō is
widely known for Cocoon, a manga released in 2010 that commemorates
65 years since the end of World War II. This work will inspire an anime
adaptation that will premiere on August 25 on NHK,
produced by the Sasayuri studio with the participation
of Hitomi Tateno, veteran animator of Studio Ghibli. The anime's
2025 release will coincide with the 80th anniversary of the end of the war.
In June
2022, Kyō introduced Suzume no Gakkō on the Mecha
Comic platform, ending in April 2024 with its third compilation volume.
Subsequently, in March 2024, she debuted with the Orizuru manga
in Akita Shoten's Elegance Eve magazine.
Recognitions
and outstanding works
In 2013,
Kyō published Mitsuami no Kami-sama in Shueisha's Jump
X magazine, which was awarded at the 18th Osamu Tezuka
Cultural Awards in 2014. This story also inspired the animated
short film Pigtails, produced by Production I.G.
The short
film had its international premiere in 2016 at the WorldFest Houston
International Film Festival, where it received the Platinum Remi
Award. Since then, he has garnered multiple accolades, including the Diamond
