Futabasha's Web Action platform
published on Tuesday the epilogue chapter marking the end of the manga
Holmes of Kyoto (Kyōto Teramachi Sanjō no Holmes), the work
of Ichiha Akizuki, based on the series of light novels written
by Mai Mochizuki and illustrated by Siz Yamauchi.
Mystery
story in the heart of Kyoto
The plot
follows Aoi Mashiro, a high school student who happens to
meet Kiyotaka Yagashira, son of the owner of an antique shop in
Kyoto's Teramachi Sanjō shopping district. Known as the
"Holmes of Teramachi Sanjō," Kiyotaka teams up with Aoi to solve
enigmatic cases that come to the store through customers with rare problems.
An
editorial journey of almost seven years
The manga
premiered on Monthly Action in October 2017, but in February
2024 it moved to Web Action after the magazine's closure.
Throughout its publication, the work reached 14 compilation volumes,
the last of them released on January 9 in Japan. It even became available in
digital format thanks to Crunchyroll.
Legacy
associated with Holmes of Kyoto
The
original series of novels began in April 2016 and currently has 22
volumes, the most recent published on May 14, 2025. Its popularity gave
rise to an animated television adaptation released in July 2018,
which was broadcast internationally by Crunchyroll. With this
epilogue, Holmes of Kyoto closes a cycle that combined mystery,
romance and antiquities in the cultural framework of Kyoto, leaving a
special memory among fans of the genre.
