This
Monday, the official X/Twitter account of Kodansha's Dessert magazine
confirmed that the manga How I Met My Soulmate (Unmei
no Hito ni Deau Hanashi), the work of renowned author Anashin,
will stop being published in the magazine to move to the manga
application Palcy, managed by pixiv and Kodansha. The change will
become effective in October 2025.
Love
story that keeps growing
The manga
debuted in April 2021 in the pages of Dessert, and has since gained
a solid readership. Its plot follows Yūki Honda, a young university
student who leaves her life in the countryside to move alone to Tokyo. On a
night out with her friend Sanae, she meets a boy whose first impression leaves
a lot to be desired... But fate seems to have other plans for both.
The seventh
compilation volume was published by Kodansha on June 13, 2025, and
the American publisher Kodansha USA has the rights for its
distribution in English. The work was also nominated for Best Shōjo
Manga at the 48th Manga Kodansha Awards earlier this
year.
An
author with a long career and success
Anashin's career already has other
outstanding titles. In 2014 he released Waiting for Spring, also
in Dessert magazine. This work concluded in December 2019 with
a total of 13 volumes, in addition to an additional manga published in 2020 as
volume 14, which explored the story of a character much loved by fans. The
series was even adapted into a live-action film, released in December 2018,
where it reached #7 at the Japanese box office.
Although How
I Met My Soulmate had a three-month hiatus in 2021 due to the birth of
the author's son, its return marked a steady evolution in both narrative and
reception. The move to Palcy represents a new chapter for this
love story that still has a lot to tell.
