The Undead
Unluck series surprised fans by announcing a special one-hour
episode, which is scheduled to premiere in the winter of 2025.
Along with a teaser trailer and a new promotional image, it
was revealed that the episode will feature a new director and
will be produced by a different studio than the first season.
This
episode will feature a completely original story written by Yoshifumi
Tozuka, author of the manga. In addition, Tozuka designed a new UMA
creature that will appear exclusively in this special. The announcement was
made on August 1, the date on which the first meeting between the
protagonists Fuuko and Andy is commemorated.
A new
team for an unprecedented story
Direction
and storyboards will be handled by Sung Hoo Park (Jujutsu
Kaisen) under his own studio E&H Production. Yamato
Haishima (Fire Force) returns as screenwriter, while Hideyuki
Morioka and Shun'ichi Ishimoto return as character
designers. The music will be composed again by Kenichiro Suehiro (Re:ZERO), with
production by UNLIMITED PRODUCE by TMS. The David
Production studio, in charge of the first season, will participate as
a collaborator.

An anime
that mixes chaos, action, and emotions
The story
revolves around Fuuko Izumo, a girl with the ability to cause bad
luck to those around her, which leads her to want to end her life. But her
destiny changes when she meets Andy, an immortal man who longs to
die. Together, they will begin a chaotic adventure that will lead them to
discover the value of life... and death.
The anime
had its world premiere in Shinjuku Piccadilly (Tokyo) before
arriving on Japanese television in October 2023. Its broadcast concluded in
March 2024 with a total of 24 episodes. The series is available on anime
platforms.
The
manga that started it all
Undead
Unluck was
born as a one-shot in January 2019 in Weekly Shonen
Jump, and was officially serialized in January 2020. The work concluded
publication in the magazine on January 27, and its final volume,
number 27, was released on April 4, including five epilogue
chapters.
The work
has received several awards, such as the #14 spot on the Kono Manga ga
Sugoi! 2021 list and the "Tsugi ni Kuru Manga
Taishō" award in 2020. Viz Media publishes the
manga in both digital and print formats, while MANGA Plus distributes
it online in multiple languages.
