Umamusume
fever: Pretty Derby has
come off the screens and will hit the racetrack in an unprecedented event.
The Royal Bangkok Sports Club announced that the first
official cosplay race inspired by the popular franchise will be held on
September 14, 2025, with fans competing on the same turf where the elite horses
run.
From
cosplay to sprint
In August,
more than 450 cosplayers surprised the public during the Queen's Cup in
Thailand, parading on the track in Umamusume costumes.
Although it was not part of the official program, the images went viral and
demonstrated the community's convening power. Now, that enthusiasm will
translate into real competition.
Race
Details
The RBSC
confirmed that the race will be a 150-meter sprint right after the last
official race of the day. Participants will start from the same starting ground
as the horses and compete for cash prizes: 3,000 baht (80 USD) for first place,
2,000 baht (55 USD) for second, and 1,000 baht (27 USD) for third.
Umamusume
and its impact on real life
What
started as a gacha game and anime has become a cultural phenomenon. Not only
does the franchise keep its global community active, but it has also reignited
interest in real racehorses like Haru Urara and Gold
Ship. Some stables have even implemented systems for international fans to
send gifts to their favorite horses.
A unique
event for fans
With
prizes, costumes, and the atmosphere of a real racetrack, this race promises to
be both a fun show and a celebration of the crossover between anime and the
equestrian world. So, if you've ever dreamed of "running like your
favorite equine waifu," maybe it's time to book a flight to Thailand.
