Excellent
news for the industry, even if it means that readers will have to arm
themselves with a little patience. The successful and crazy manga The
100 Girlfriends Who Really, Really, Really, Really, Really Love You (or
simply The 100 Brides so we don't run out of air) is going to
slow down its usual pace. Its talented illustrator, Yukiko Nozawa,
has announced that she will be taking a well-deserved maternity leave,
so the publication of the chapters will undergo temporary changes.
Health
and family come first
If you've
been following this manga since its 2019 debut in Weekly Young Jump magazine,
you know perfectly well that maintaining the level of visual detail and the
absurd amount of characters in each panel is no easy feat. Weekly serialization
is brutal for any artist in Japan, so the fact that Nozawa can slow down the
delivery of chapters or pause them to focus on the arrival of her baby is a
total victory. Fortunately, the community has reacted wonderfully, filling the
networks with congratulations and showing a lot of empathy by understanding
that the well-being of creators is a priority.
Rentaro
and his girls can wait
For those
who still don't give this comic gem a chance, the story written by Rikito
Nakamura and illustrated by Nozawa shatters the clichés of the harem
genre. Instead of the typical indecisive protagonist, Rentaro discovers
that he is destined to love 100 soulmates; if she rejects one, she will suffer
a fatal fate. The result is a hilarious chaos where he does everything possible
to make them all equally happy.
While the
illustrator enjoys this new and beautiful stage in her personal life, fans have
plenty of material to survive the wait. The first two seasons of the anime were
already a resounding success and a third season is confirmed for 2026.
So there is romantic madness for a while.
