The Party's Over: Japan's "King of the Harem" Runs Out of Money and Wives

0

The man who lived the "dream" of many (and the accounting nightmare of others) has suddenly woken up in a very cold reality. Ryuta Watanabe, the famous content creator from Hokkaido, faces a brutal financial collapse from Ryuta Watanabe that has crumbled his family utopia. After showing off her life with four simultaneous partners on social media, the money ran out, tensions exploded and her harem has almost completely dissolved.

Watanabe, who gained notoriety for his eccentric goal of having 53 children to "combat Japan's population decline," confessed that his situation is critical. From making millions as an influencer, he went on to have just 110,000 yen (about $700) in the bank, forcing his family to clamp down after an emergency meeting late last year.

Details of Ryuta Watanabe's financial collapse and the exodus of his wives

What seemed like a life of Harem anime turned into a survival drama. As Ryuta himself explained, the lack of income and lifestyle differences made coexistence unsustainable. The final toll of this crisis is devastating:

  • Abandonment: Wife 1 and wife 3 decided to leave and return to their parents' home, taking their four children with them.
  • Those who remain: Only wife 2 (who has no children) remains by his side. Wife 4 lives apart, although technically they are still together.
  • Living on the edge: The crisis was such that Ryuta had to live several days in his car enduring the sub-zero temperatures of winter in Hokkaido.

The brazenness of "Chapter 2"

Far from looking for a normal 9-to-5 job to recover, Ryuta has decided to double down. He announced that he does not plan to abandon his lifestyle and is already planning "Chapter 2" of his polygamy. Their solution? Open auditions for new wives who want to join him, even though he literally has nowhere to drop dead.
