The clash between animated and realistic worlds reaches the small screen. Fuji TV on Wednesday inaugurated the official website for the anime adaptation of Thunder 3, confirming that the series will begin airing on the +Ultra programming block and other networks in July 2026.

Along with the announcement, the main cast, a teaser visual, and the first promotional video were presented. Yuuki Ikeda's manga has gained attention on social media for its fast-paced narrative and quirky art style that contrasts cartoonish designs with hyper-realistic backgrounds.

The promotional video highlights the everyday moments of protagonists Pyontaro, Tsubame, and Hiroshi, contrasting with the visual that shows the trio searching for the missing Futaba. The trailer captures the characters' ordinary yet heartfelt daily lives before their reality is transformed.

  • Sayumi Suzushiro as Pyontaro
Known as Akira Ono in High Score Girl.

About the work

The story begins when three ordinary students obtain a DVD that supposedly opens a portal to a parallel universe. In an oversight, Futaba, Pyontaro's little sister, crosses the portal and is abducted by aliens in a hyper-realistic version of Earth. Discovering that their cartoonish bodies make them supermen in this new world, the boys embark on a rescue mission.

The manga began serialization in Kodansha's Monthly Shonen Magazine in May 2022. After a hiatus in February 2025, the series resumed publication on February 6.
