My S-Rank Adventurer Daughters novels will have anime adaptation

The production committee behind this peculiar parenting and battle franchise confirmed what many readers had been suspecting for months. Original writer Kametsu Tomobashi officially announced this weekend that the animated adaptation of (known by its lengthy Japanese title S Rank Bōkensha Dearu Ore no Musume-tachi wa Jūdo no Fathercon Deshita) has now been greenlit to hit television.

To celebrate the milestone, light novel illustrator Tsubame Nozomi and manga artist Shunichi released commemorative illustrations of the inseparable protagonists.

Unlike stories where the protagonist desperately seeks glory or defeating the Demon King, this plot opts for a more relaxed but chaotic approach. The narrative introduces us to Kaiser, who in his youth was an absolute prodigy and held the title of the most powerful adventurer in the world. However, he decided to hang up his weapons and retire from mortal combat to devote himself fully to his new calling: to be a sweet and devoted father. The comic twist falls on his three daughters, who not only inherited his overwhelming combat skills, but also developed a paternal complex so extreme that they cannot tolerate being away from him.

The success of novels in the Japanese market

This project was initially conceived in 2019 within the gigantic web reading portal Shōsetsu ni Narō, achieving enough success for the publisher Overlap to begin serializing it in physical format. Currently, the light novel continues to be published at a good pace, while its respective manga adaptation, which debuted in 2020 on the Comic Gardo service, is preparing to release its twelfth volume this July. Thanks to this double offensive in paper and digital format, the franchise surpassed 1.6 million copies in circulation, proving that there is a massive captive audience waiting to see this family dynamic in motion.

Considering the huge number of series focused on retired adventurers raising child prodigies.
