Keeping a
secret on the internet is almost impossible, but when it comes to one of the
most anticipated twists of the decade, prudence is mandatory. In view of the
imminent theatrical release of the film Madoka Magica: Walpurgis no
Kaiten this coming August 28, the production team issued an official
statement begging the community to completely refrain from
posting spoilers on social networks and video platforms until
midnight on September 12, in order for everyone to enjoy the surprises of the
plot blindly.
This
installment works as the direct sequel to the acclaimed 2013 film, Rebellion,
picking up right where Homura Akemi rewrote reality itself to keep Madoka
Kaname by his side. What appears to be a peaceful life in the city of
Mitakihara is actually an extremely fragile and altered space. As rumors
circulate about a mysterious "lizard phone" capable of granting
wishes and girls without soul gems hunt down the magical beasts that replaced
the witches, an unknown force bursts in to destroy the fake paradise of Homura.
The arrival of two new magical girls in search of the Law of
the Cycle will force the story to return to the very origins of the entity
known as Walpurgisnacht.
The
return of the legendary Studio Shaft team
To the
peace of mind of the most demanding fans, the production of this
cinematic gem reunited the original creative team that turned
the franchise into a cult phenomenon. The general direction is
in charge of Akiyuki Shinbo with director Yukihiro Miyamoto
at the Studio Shaft facilities, supported by the scripts
of Gen Urobuchi and the iconic character designs of Ume Aoki.
The musical section will be adorned by the teacher Yuki Kajiura, who composed
the main theme "Kanata" under her project FictionJunction, promising
an atmosphere as overwhelming as that of her best years.
