Shueisha reveals distribution statistics for her magazines

The publisher Shueisha published the document “Media Guide 2020” in the month of May, in which he offered information about several of his magazines for advertising companies, including that related to manga magazines. The document includes quantities of copies in circulation and information on the demographics of the magazines.


The outstanding amounts listed below include average amounts for the period from January 1, 2019 to December 31, 2019.

  • Saikyou Jump - 130,000 copies.
  • Jump SQ - 170,000 copies (including digital versions)
  • Weekly Young Jump - 450,000 copies.
  • Ultra Jump - 28,000 copies.
  • Grand Jump - 160,000 copies.

Additionally, the guide revealed that the Shonen Jump Plus website had around 2.4 million active users per week. The application was downloaded more than 13 million times until January of this year.

The guide didn't list gender demographics for Weekly Shonen Jump magazine, but it did by age. 27.4% of readers are 25 years old or older, 25.8% are between 19 and 24 years old, 17.6% are between 16 and 18 years old, 16.4% are between 13 and 15 years old, 9.6% are between 10 and 12 years, and 3.2% are under 9 years old.

In the case of V Jump magazine, 25% of the readers are from the last grade of primary school, 24% are from secondary school, 20% are from the first year of high school, 12% are from high school, 15% are adults of working age, and 4% are university students. For Saikyou Jump magazine, 58.5% are readers in the last year of primary school, 28% in the first year of secondary school, 11% in secondary school, and 2.5% in high school or older.

For Weekly Young Jump magazine, the guide revealed that 32.9% of readers are age 30 and over, 28.3% are age 20-30, 21.5% are age 40 or older, 11.7% are age 50 or older, and 5.6% are under 20 years old. For Jump SQ, 30.2% are people between 25 and 29 years old, 26.4% are between 20 and 24 years old, 25.2% are between 15 and 19 years old, and 18.2% are between 30 and 34 years old. The circulation of Weekly Shonen Jump magazine dropped from the 1.6 million copies in circulation in the period from January to March 2020, to exactly 1,572,833 copies.

For Bessatsu Margaret magazine, 56.2% of readers are 24 years of age or older, 16% are between 15 and 18 years old, 15.1% are between 19 and 23 years old, and 12.7% are 14 years old or younger. For Office You magazine, 71% of female readers are 45 years or older.
