The Yami Shibai franchise will have a spin-off series in July

On the official site for the original animated series Yami Shibai, the production and premiere of an original spin-off series titled Ninja Collection, which will premiere in July on Japanese television, was announced.


The original series consists of a collection of short stories lasting just a few minutes, based on myths and urban legends of Japan. The first season featured thirteen episodes and premiered in July 2013. The series has continued to premiere seasons almost annually, with the seventh and most recent season premiered in July 2019. The series is produced by ILCA Studios under the direction by Tomoya Takashima and scripts written by Hiromu Kumamoto, with 78 episodes accumulated to date.

Production team
  • Akira Funada is in charge of directing the anime at ILCA studios, in collaboration with TIA and DRAWIZ.
  • Hiromu Kumamoto and Mitsushiro Sasaki return to write and supervise the series scripts in collaboration with Rei Tsuruga.
  • Akayoroshi was in charge of the original character sketches, with Tsubo Asano in charge of animation.
  • The rock band Backdrop Cinderella performs the closing song entitled "Shinobi Ashi by Unzaunza wo Odoru".

Synopsis for Yami Shibai: Ninja Collection

This new series will retain the elements of urban legends and horror, but will focus on the group of Toukeshuu ninjas in Tokyo, the city where dreams and desires swirl. With ancient techniques handed down from generation to generation, the ninjas attempt to remove "the darkness" that envelops people in the current Reiwa era.
