Voice actress Shizuka Furuya announced through her official media that she will resume her career in voice acting, five years after announcing her retirement in 2015. In an interview, she revealed the reason why she dropped out of the industry was due to being hit by a truck in 2015 in a traffic accident, which left her with half her body paralyzed.
Furuya added that she had made her official retirement announcement only through her Twitter account, since at the time she was a freelance voice actress and was not working at any talent agency. However, her producer asked her if she would consider returning to voice acting in the future, and she also received a job offer from her former agency, Production Ace. She added that at the time, no one knew she had retired, not even the Production Ace agency or her partner Mariko Honda. Finally, Furuya added that she closed her Twitter account soon after.
After her retirement, Furuya worked in various positions, but used her work license to take a vacation in South Korea. Shizuka Furuya is perhaps best known for having played Nano Shinonome in the Kyoto Animation series Nichijou. In addition, she also played AUGA1 in Upotte !! and Uruchi Minaya in Maken-Ki !.
